PPI (also known as "loan protection") is often sold when taking out a credit card/ loan/ mortgage.

This type of insurance covers your credit cards, loans or mortagages or debt repayments incase you encounter a problem and cannot repay your payments e.g. being made redundant, illness or being unable to work. 

It's a brilliant idea to pay a little extra each month so that you don't have to worry about your payments.
