Occupational Deafness/Noise Induced Hearing Loss

Hearing loss as a result of exposure to excessive noise at work is often referred to as Occupational Deafness, Industrial Deafness or Noise Induced Hearing Loss. It is a deterioration of a person’s hearing over a prolonged period of time as a result of their working environment. Once caused, the damage to your hearing is irreversible, however conditions such as noise induced hearing loss could be avoided if employers adhere to the necessary precautions.

Throughout the United Kingdom thousands of people are affected by Industrial Deafness and to help with preventing more cases arising, the Noise at Work Act 1989 was introduced. These regulations impose duties on employers to protect their employees from exposure to excessive noise. If your hearing has deteriorated and you were once employed in an area where you had to shout to communicate, Asons Solicitors may be able to help you make a claim for compensation.
